Many who have bought the Epiroc Solid Body (SB) use their breakers on an irregular basis, but when they need them, they need to work first time, every time. We’ve previously spoken about just how amazing the Epiroc SB Hammer is, here are some tips below on maintenance and storage can be useful to customers to ensure their breaker’s reliability.

Daily Maintenance :

1. Check the breaker tool holder and locking pins to ensure these are in good condition to prevent premature tool breakage.
2. Check that the hoses and couplings connecting the breaker to the carrier are in good condition.
3. Check that the adapter plate bolts are sound and have not worked loose.
4. Top up the central lubrication system to make sure the tool has fresh grease
   every time.

Weekly Maintenance:

1. Clean the hammer thoroughly to allow any leaks or damage to be easily identified.
2. Check the wear of the tool bushing using the provided measurement gauge.
3. Excessive bush wear may result in tool breakage and damage to the piston.
4. Check the breaker body and adapter plate for cracks and wear.
5. Check that the accumulator screws have not worked loose. The correct tightening torque is given in the spare parts book.

Yearly Maintenance:

1. For safety reasons inspection and to ensure best life for the breaker a service should be done at the nearest BA Equipment Group service center.

Storage:

If the breaker is to be unused for a long time, it is suggested the following steps be taken to protect it:

1. Clean the breaker thoroughly.
2. Remove the tool and lubricate the front part of the piston, the bushing and the tool locking mechanism.
3. Store the breaker in an upright position. This reduces the risk of damage to the piston. Make sure the breaker cannot fall over.

These tips should ensure that you get the best productivity and life out of your breaker and ensure it’s ready for use every time.
